Partner, Chief Investment Officer
Chris joined RCF in 2008 after working as a Financial Analyst and Commercial Manager within the business development department at Wesfarmers Limited. Prior to this he worked as an Engineer for Byrnecut Mining Pty Ltd where he gained technical experience in shaft sinking and equipping; and underground mine production. Chris develops investment business strategies and oversees the investment processes at RCF.
Chris has a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) (First Class Honours) and Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Western Australia (UWA), is a Graduate Diploma in Mining from the Western Australian School of Mines (WASM) and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance, from the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (FINSIA).
Partner, Head of Technical
Calum joined RCF in 2021 having led the successful turnaround of TMAC Resources as a Director and EVP Operations. He brings 35 years of broad global operating experience involved in numerous start-ups, mergers and growth scenarios in leadership roles in industry and as Global Lead of the Mining Consulting practice at PwC. Calum is responsible for technical due diligence on new investments and provides support to PE portfolio company boards and management teams and their operations.
Calum holds a C.Eng (Uk). BSc (Hons) Engineering, University of Edinburgh.
Chief Commodity Strategist
Rob joined RCF in 2014 and is RCF’s Chief Commodities Strategist. He provides a macro and micro level perspective on the factors that impact RCF’s underlying fund performance. This cross-fund role contributes to RCF’s commodity market insight and how investment decisions create value for investors. Prior to joining RCF, Rob held a variety of economic, strategy, risk, valuation and finance roles at PwC and Merrill Lynch.
Rob holds a BA honours in Economics / International Areas Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and gained his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter in 2003.
Chief Sustainability Officer
Kevin is a recognized thought leader with 30 years of direct experience in responsible mining including Environmental Social Governance (ESG) related issues, security management, and diversity & inclusion. Kevin has a proven track record focused on creating value through strategic planning, governance, and tactical operational implementation for numerous mining companies including Barrick Gold, AngloGold Ashanti, Gold Fields, Rio Tinto, BHP Billiton, Kinross, and De Beers and most recently was the VP of Security, Sustainability & Environment for Centerra Gold. Kevin has amassed direct mining experience in over fifty countries worldwide with a deliberate focus on developing countries in Central Asia, Oceania, South America, and sub-Saharan Africa.
Kevin has an MEng in Mining Engineering from the Royal School of Mines in London, England. Kevin is also currently a committee member of the new Canadian Black North Initiative (BNI), a Board member of Women in Mining (Canada), a mentor on the International Women in Mining (IWiM) mentoring program, and a member of the international Mining Security Working Group (MSWG).
Director, Projects
Lauren joined RCF in 2019 after a 14-year banking career, most recently with Commonwealth Bank of Australia’s Natural Resources Finance team in Perth. Lauren has broad experience in origination, project and corporate finance and corporate turnaround and restructuring. Lauren has broad, global experience in origination, project and corporate finance, corporate turnaround and restructuring.
Lauren holds an MA(Oxon) in Ancient and Modern History from Oxford University and an MBA from Curtin University. She has also holds a Sustainability and Climate Risk (SCR) Certificate from the Global Association of Risk Professionals and an Applied Responsible Investment Certificate from the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) Academy.
VP Trading & Market Research
Ryan Coffey is the VP of Trading & Market Research and a member of both the RCF Opportunities Fund and the (RCF VI) Exploration Strategy investment committees. Ryan handles all public and private equity, warrant and debt trading. In this capacity, Ryan maintains relationships with brokers and bankers to ensure that RCF has complete access to analysts’ reports, conferences, and offerings. As a member of the CIO team, he works to continually streamline the firm’s Investment Decision Making Process.
Ryan holds a BS in History and Public Health Management form Rutgers University. Prior to joining RCF, Ryan held the Series 3, 4, 7, 24, 55 and 63 licenses.
Manager, Metallurgy & Processing
Simon has over 30 years of mineral processing experience in project financing, owner/operator and EPCM environments. Multi-commodity experience including Gold, Uranium, Copper, and Nickel. Involved in the full life cycle of projects having developed and managed test work programs, undertaken various levels of studies and been involved in the design construction and commissioning management of numerous projects.
Simon has a Bachelor of Science in Engineering in the branch of Metallurgy and Minerals Process Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa (1990). Simon is a member of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM).
Chief Geologist
Jani has over 25 years of experience in the mining and minerals sector and has held senior technical, operational and management roles within several mining companies and mineral industry consulting groups within Australia and internationally. Jani has technical expertise in mining geology, resource modelling, estimation and reconciliation, grade control, QAQC, due diligence and project audits. Jani’s operational experience comes from both open-pit and underground environments. Commodity experience includes copper, nickel, lead, silver, zinc, gold, iron ore and copper-gold porphyries.
Jani has a BSc with a double major (Geology and Environmental Science) and Honours in Economic Geology from James Cook University. Jani has also completed a Graduate Certificate in Mineral and Energy Economics at the Curtin Graduate School of Business. Jani is a Chartered Professional Member of Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, a Member of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists and a Member of the Society of Economic Geologists.
Manager, Geology
Rafael joined RCF as Manager, Geology in 2021. Rafael’s expertise is in mineral project evaluation, technical due diligence, 3D geological and resource modelling, and mineral resource development. He has been active in the hard rock mining industry since 2004. Prior to joining RCF, Rafael worked for Eldorado Gold Corporation and Gold Fields International in various progressive roles spanning exploration, mine, and resource geology at mine sites, corporate technical services, corporate development, evaluation of M&A opportunities, and project portfolio management.
Rafael has a B.Sc. in geology and a M.Sc. in structural geology.
Financial Valuation Specialist
Prior to joining RCF in 2021, Ben spent 13 years in valuation consulting with Kroll (fka Duff & Phelps) and Ankura, where he focused on valuations within the mining industry. His clients included both senior and junior mining companies across a wide spectrum of commodities and global locations. He has also done work for construction materials producers, mining service companies, and metals refiners and smelters. Ben has been at the forefront of alternative investment approaches to the mining industry and has presented research related to trends and opportunities in mining finance to the Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration (SME) and the American Exploration & Mining Association.
Ben has an MBA in global finance from Thunderbird School of Global Management, a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics from Brigham Young University and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Resource Capital Funds is both an initial investor and first client of 4CDA, a data analytics and management consultancy, founded in Perth in 2018. 4CDA provides high quality independent advice to a suite of clients, employing quantitative problem-solvers. 4CDA’s client base is rapidly expanding to major clients across the globe servicing global energy, resources, and financial services. 4CDA has been contracted to identify value for clients using a range of quantitative techniques including Monte Carlo modelling, computer vision analysis, 3D LIDAR point cloud interrogation, custom software solutions, machine learning and neural network development and training.
