Twin Hills Trust
Namibia
The Twin Hills Trust is a not-for-profit organization, registered and based in Namibia. It has been established to support social economic, and environmental development projects in the country that contribute to: (1) long-term and lasting community development and resilience, (2) empowering and improving the quality of life for the most disadvantaged communities, and (3) improving the environment. The RCF Foundation contributed funds for an early childhood development (ECD) project allowing continued support for ECD centers in Karibib and Omaruru, which provide services to approximately 550 young children, aged 0 to 6.
OCADES Fish Farming Project
Burkina Faso
The Catholic Organization for Development and Solidarity (OCADES) works in the areas of human development, solidarity and sharing, and operational capacity building. Its programs cover various sectors such as agriculture, relief services, access to basic social services, microfinance, humanitarian aid, reintegration and rehabilitation of vulnerable people, food security and the promotion of women. OCADES will partner with Orezone Gold Corporation to implement a fish farming initiative in the community of Nobsin in Burkina Faso. RCF Foundation has contributed funds to be used for the construction of ponds which will be used for fish farming by the women of the community. The wastewater from the fish farms will then be used as organic fertilizer for the vegetable farms in the local area.
Starlight Children’s Foundation
Australia
Starlight’s mission is to brighten the lives of children with serious illnesses and their families. Starlight works closely with health professionals to develop programs that have a positive impact on seriously ill children, adolescents, and their families. Starlight Express Rooms are in every children’s hospital in Australia. The rooms are a medical-free haven for sick kids and their families seeking a welcome break from the cycle of medical treatments and procedures. They provide a unique space filled with laughter, smiles, fun people and enjoyable activities. RCF Foundation’s grant will help fund a Starlight Express Room.
