James co-founded Resource Capital Funds in 1998 and now, together with sixteen global partners of the firm, oversees the strategic direction. James has 35 years of experience in the mining industry and prior to launching RCF he was a natural resources sector banker with N.M. Rothschild in Australia and the U.S., and with Standard Chartered Bank. He began his professional career with BHP Limited.

Michele Valenti

Michele joined RCF in 2016 after having served as Global Chief Operating Officer, Private Equity at Deutsche Bank. Michele has COO and business development experience in private equity, infrastructure, real estate and hedge funds. Prior to Deutsche Bank she was with Nomura Securities, Merrill Lynch and Mahoney Cohen & Company. Michele manages all aspects of RCF’s non-investment related business.

Chris Corbett

Chris joined RCF in 2008 after working as a Financial Analyst and Commercial Manager within the business development department at Wesfarmers Limited. Prior to this he worked as an Engineer for Byrnecut Mining Pty Ltd where he gained technical experience in shaft sinking and equipping; and underground mine development and production. Chris develops investment business strategies and oversees the investment processes at RCF.

Martin Valdes

Martin joined RCF in 2015 following an investment banking career that included positions at J.P. Morgan and Citigroup in New York and as Partner of Hudson Bankers, a Latin American boutique M&A firm based in Chile. He has extensive experience in M&A and other transaction advisory services across Latin America, North America and Europe. Martin manages the day-to-day operations of the Private Equity Strategy for RCF VII including deal sourcing, portfolio allocation, deal strategy and investment approval processes.

Ross joined RCF in 2001 after serving as the President of a development-stage copper company, Director of Business Development at Newmont Mining Corporation focused on M&A activities globally and positions in various technical and financial roles at Cyprus Minerals Company. Ross manages the day-to-day operations of the Private Equity Strategy for mature funds (RCF IV, RCF V, RCF V Annex and RCF VI).

Russ joined RCF in 2000 after serving as a mining industry Equity Analyst for Canadian retail and institutional brokerage firms and eight years as a Mineral Exploration Geologist for a number of major international mining companies, the bulk of which was with Kennecott Canada Inc. and Freeport McMoRan Gold company. Russ manages the day-to-day operations of the Opportunities strategy and the Opportunities investment team overseeing deal sourcing, portfolio allocation, deal strategy and investment negotiation and investment approval processes.

Lyle Bruce

Lyle joined RCF Jolimont in 2013. Lyle has 40 years in the mining and processing industry, mostly related to technology commercialization and implementation. He is currently Chair of METS Ignited, the Growth Centre for the METS Sector in Australia. Prior to joining RCF Jolimont, he was CEO of GroundProbe, taking the Company from university research to commercial success as the world leader in mine slope stability monitoring. Lyle has previously held roles with Mount Isa Mines and Rio Tinto. He was EY’s Australian Entrepreneur of the Year in 2006.

David Halkyard

David joined RCF in 2019 following a banking career in London that included senior positions with Bank of Montreal and Société Générale. During this time he led a wide range of mining financing and advisory transactions across, Europe, Middle East and Africa. Prior to this he worked as an Exploration Geologist and Precious Metals Analyst.

John Beczak

John joined RCF in 2016. Prior to joining, John held positions in various Private Equity financial oversight roles, most recently with a family office overseeing all financial responsibilities of a $10 billion private and public equity portfolio. Previously, John served as Fund CFO of the closed-end credit and distressed strategies for the Carlyle Group, COO for two closed-end credit funds at Lehman Brothers, and as a controller for Credit Suisse’s DLJ merchant banking funds. John manages all aspects of RCF’s Finance team overseeing fund reporting and financial statement preparation.

Calum Semple

Calum joined RCF in 2021 having led the successful turnaround of TMAC Resources as a Director and EVP Operations. He brings 35 years of broad global operating experience involved in numerous start-ups, mergers and growth scenarios in leadership roles in industry and as Global Lead of the Mining Consulting practice at PwC. Calum is responsible for technical due diligence on new investments and provides support to PE portfolio company boards and management teams and their operations.

Sherri has worked at RCF since its inception and was formally a Principal of Eastpointe Management LLC, a firm that provided outsourced accounting and administrative services to Private Equity funds and Director of Fund Administration at Rothschild North America and Continuation Investments N.V. Prior to joining Rothschild, Sherri was with Deloitte & Touche LLP for several years. Sherri provides advisory services to RCF across all funds in finance related disciplines.

Mason has advised Resource Capital Funds since 2001 and joined the firm in an in-house capability in 2006. Prior to joining RCF, he practiced as a Commercial Lawyer, specializing in corporate and finance law in the resources sector. Mason previously managed RCF investment teams in both Perth and Denver and became RCF’s General Counsel in 2019. He also chairs the Partners Committee that is responsible for the overall governance of RCF’s global investment operations.

Rich joined RCF in 2022. Prior to joining, Rich held positions in various fundraising and client services capacities, including most recently as Senior Managing Director at Harbert Management Corporation, a diversified alternatives investment platform. Prior to Harbert, he was a Managing Director at Morgan Stanley in both London and New York and worked at both Bankers Trust and JP Morgan earlier in his career. Rich manages all aspects of RCF’s fundraising processes, investor relations and co-investment programs.

Rob Gray

Rob joined RCF in 2014 and is RCF’s Chief Commodities Strategist. He provides a macro and micro level perspective on the factors that impact RCF’s underlying fund performance. This cross-fund role contributes to RCF’s commodity market insight and how investment decisions create value for investors. Prior to joining RCF, Rob held a variety of economic, strategy, risk, valuation and finance roles at PwC and Merrill Lynch.

Kevin joined RCF in 2022 having 30 years of direct experience in over fifty countries in responsible mining. He has worked with, or consulted to, many of the industry’s top companies, such as Barrick, AngloGold Ashanti, Kinross, and Rio Tinto. Most recently he was the VP of Security, Sustainability & Environment for Centerra Gold. Kevin ensures that all aspects of ESG are addressed as part of RCF’s ongoing commitment to investing responsibly.

Michael Rowe

Michael joined RCF in 2010 after 22 years with the Royal Dutch Shell Group. During his time with Shell he worked in Human Resources, and in Commercial, Governance and M&A roles in the UK, Netherlands, China, Singapore and Australia. He has a strong external focus advising RCF portfolio companies and leading HR aspects of investments. Michael commenced his career working in Industrial Relations at Australian mine site operations.

Brett manages an RCF investment team as well as the administrative aspects of RCF’s Perth Office.

Wes joined RCF in 2021 following a career in investment banking with Stifel Financial that spanned the metals, natural resources and real estate industries. During this time he led the origination and execution of a wide range of financing and strategic advisory transactions primarily in North America. Prior to this he served as a Captain in the United States Army and was stationed domestically, in Europe as well as deployed to the Middle East. Wes leads RCF investment teams as well as supports transaction, financing and business development efforts across RCF.

Charles joined RCF Jolimont in 2013. Prior to RCF Jolimont, he co-founded Jolimont Capital with Lex, where they both worked together from 2003 through 2012 to complete 30 technology investments. Charles has 21 years of private equity experience working with management teams on financings, restructurings, and marketing. Prior roles include membership of investment committees, consulting, marketing, and corporate advisory.

Prior roles include founder and CEO of ADI, a technology seed investor, and CEO of Emerge CMC, a joint venture between Oracle, NEC, Telstra, and four major universities. His mining industry experience includes time as a Mining Engineer at Mt Isa in Queensland.

Joe joined RCF in 2017 following 13 years with Macquarie Bank, based initially in Sydney and then in Vancouver. During this time, he led a range of mining project finance and equity investment transactions across the globe. Joe manages the Opportunities Strategy investment team in Australia.

Andrew joined RCF Jolimont in 2020. Andrew is an experienced leader and entrepreneur, with over 20 years’ experience in the mining industry. Prior to joining RCF Jolimont, Andrew was founder, chief executive officer, and director of leading mining technology firm MineWare Pty Ltd. In 2017, Andrew successfully oversaw the acquisition of the MineWare business by Komatsu Ltd.
